“Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you are looking at, then you are never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures” — Don McCullin
Welcome to my portfolio, I hope you like my pictures and I can pass you the feelings and emotions I felt when I took, and afterward, seen them. Tommaso D’Apice.
Welcome to my photography portfolio, a collection of images inspired by my passion for nature, wildlife, landscapes and travel. Photography allows me to explore the world from a different perspective, discover extraordinary places and capture moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through my work, I aim to share the beauty of the natural world, from the smallest details hidden in nature to vast landscapes that stretch beyond the horizon. My photography is driven by curiosity, patience and a desire to experience new environments, whether I am observing wildlife in its natural habitat, exploring dramatic mountain scenery, walking through peaceful forests or discovering unique locations during my travels.
Wildlife photography is one of my greatest passions. Photographing animals in their natural environment requires patience, observation and an understanding of their behaviour. Some of the most rewarding moments happen when you spend time quietly observing your surroundings, waiting for the right light or anticipating a fleeting interaction. I enjoy capturing the character, movement and beauty of wildlife while respecting the animals and the environments they inhabit. From birds and mammals to smaller creatures that are often overlooked, wildlife photography offers endless opportunities to appreciate the diversity of life on our planet. Every encounter is different, and that unpredictability is part of what makes photographing wildlife such a fascinating experience.
Landscape photography is another important part of my photographic journey. I am drawn to places that inspire a sense of wonder, whether they are dramatic mountain ranges, rugged coastlines, quiet lakes, expansive valleys or remote natural environments. Light plays a fundamental role in how I approach landscape photography, transforming familiar locations into something extraordinary. Sunrise, sunset, changing weather and atmospheric conditions can completely alter the mood of a scene. I enjoy exploring different compositions, perspectives and photographic techniques to convey the atmosphere of a place and capture the feeling of being there. For me, landscape photography is not simply about recording a beautiful view; it is about finding a connection with a location and sharing that experience through an image.
I also have a particular appreciation for macro photography, which reveals a fascinating world that is easy to miss when looking at nature from a distance. By getting closer to small subjects such as insects, flowers, textures and other natural details, I can explore patterns, colours and structures that often go unnoticed. Macro photography encourages me to slow down, pay attention to the smallest elements of a scene and discover beauty in unexpected places. It is a reminder that extraordinary photographic opportunities are not always found in spectacular destinations. Sometimes, the most interesting subjects are right in front of us, waiting to be observed from a different angle.
Alongside colour photography, I enjoy the timeless qualities of black and white photography. Removing colour allows me to concentrate on light, shadows, shapes, textures and composition. It can simplify a scene, emphasise contrast and create a stronger emotional connection between the subject and the viewer. Whether photographing a dramatic landscape, an animal in a striking environment or an interesting detail, black and white photography offers a different way of interpreting the world. I particularly enjoy how monochrome images can reveal the essential elements of a photograph and give a scene a distinctive atmosphere that might otherwise be lost among its colours.
Travel is an important source of inspiration for my photography. Exploring new countries and unfamiliar environments allows me to discover different landscapes, encounter wildlife and experience places that challenge my creativity. I enjoy researching destinations, finding interesting photographic locations and learning when and where the conditions are most favourable for taking pictures. Every journey offers new opportunities to experiment, improve my skills and create images that reflect the character of a place. From well-known viewpoints to quieter locations away from the crowds, I believe that discovering the right place is an essential part of creating meaningful travel photographs.
Beyond sharing my images, I want this portfolio to be a useful source of inspiration and practical information for fellow photographers and travellers. I enjoy sharing advice about where to go for photography, how to find beautiful locations and how to capture better photographs when visiting them. This includes tips on choosing the right time of day, making the most of natural light, composing stronger images and understanding the conditions that can make a location particularly rewarding to photograph. Whether you are planning a photography trip, searching for wildlife-watching opportunities, looking for breathtaking landscapes or simply hoping to improve your photography skills, I want to help you make the most of your own adventures.
My approach to photography continues to evolve with every new experience. I believe that taking better photographs involves more than using the right equipment or mastering technical settings. It also means learning to observe, being patient, understanding your surroundings and remaining open to unexpected moments. Sometimes, the best images come from carefully planning a location and waiting for the perfect conditions. At other times, they emerge spontaneously while exploring somewhere new. Both approaches are equally rewarding, and each photograph represents an opportunity to learn something new about the subject, the environment or my own creative process.
Through this portfolio, I invite you to explore my collection of wildlife, landscape, macro and black and white photographs, as well as images captured during my travels. Each photograph represents a moment, a place or a detail that caught my attention and inspired me to take a closer look. I hope these images encourage you to appreciate the natural world, discover new destinations and see familiar places from a fresh perspective. Whether you are here to enjoy nature photography, find inspiration for your next trip or learn how to capture beautiful photographs of your own, I hope you find something that sparks your curiosity and encourages you to explore the world with a camera in hand.
